JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. At least one year of experience with Medical Records
2. Customer service with heavy telephone use experience preferred.
3. Good knowledge of medical terminology
4. Physical examination which indicates that the employee is able to meet the physical requirements of the job including: Lifting up to 5 lbs., prolonged sitting; occasional walking, standing, stooping, bending, and twisting. Able to operate computer, printer, fax and other office equipment.
5. Skilled in Microsoft Office, data entry, electronic medical record and use of business email.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
1. Experience working in a clinic setting with specialist panels
2. Current BLS certification
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Gathers patient information by collecting demographic information.
2. Maintains master patient index by completing assigned portion of daily audit trail; corrects and communicates problems according to established procedures.
3. Initiates the medical record by creating and processing the patient care record folder.
4. Maintains record availability by processing charts into the department; using chart mark-off procedures; facilitating chart location activities.
5. Retrieves medical records by following chart-out procedures; documenting reasons charts cannot be retrieved for statistical and follow-up purposes.
6. Delivers charts to assigned areas of the clinic by following established routing procedures.
7. Keeps health care providers informed by communicating availability or unavailability of the record.
8. Maintains quality results by following clinic standards.
9. Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
10. Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential.
11. Serves and protects the clinic by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
12. Enhances medical records and clinic reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
13. Knowledge of and compliance with the ROADS policies and procedures.
14. Listen to voice mailbox regularly and return calls in a timely manner.
15. Timely and accurate entry of patient information into the electronic medical record and other reporting tools.
16. Performs other clerical and office duties as assigned by physicians or clinic manager.
