Part-Time Mental Health Billing Manager
Reports To: Executive Director or Practice Administrator
Schedule: 10 hours per week (flexible)
Compensation:
$35–$40/hour | Contractor
Position Summary
The Part-Time Billing Manager oversees billing operations for mental health services, ensuring accurate claims submission, timely reimbursement, and compliance with payer regulations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong billing expertise seeking a flexible schedule in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, and denial resolution
- Monitor accounts receivable and generate monthly financial summaries
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines
- Collaborate with clinicians and admin staff to ensure documentation supports billing
- Maintain credentialing records and payer enrollment status
- Recommend process improvements to enhance billing efficiency
- Communicate with insurers and clearinghouses to resolve claim issues
Qualifications
- 8+ years of behavioral health billing experience (mental health preferred)
- Proficiency in EHR and billing platforms (e.g., InSync, SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, or similar), and experience with TriZetto & Availity.
- Strong understanding of CPT/ICD coding, payer portals, and denial management
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with NJ Medicaid and regional payer requirements is a plus
- Experience managing a billing team
