As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented MEP Estimator to join our dynamic preconstruction team.
Position Summary
The MEP Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role is critical in supporting the preconstruction and project management teams by providing clear and comprehensive budgets, value engineering solutions, and risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze design documents, specifications, and scope of work for all MEP systems.
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.
- Work closely with subcontractors and vendors to obtain and evaluate pricing.
- Identify and evaluate value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
- Participate in project walkthroughs and attend pre-bid meetings as needed.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to clarify design intent and resolve discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain historical cost databases and estimating tools.
- Assist with bid proposals, budgeting, and cost forecasting.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in MEP estimating within commercial construction.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Advanced knowledge of estimating software (such as Trimble, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
