- Assist the head coach with organizing and supervising practices and games
- Instruct players in the fundamentals of football, including offense, defense, and special teams
- Promote good sportsmanship, respect, and academic achievement
- Support team conditioning, training, and injury prevention strategies
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all student-athletes
- Help manage equipment, uniforms, and logistics as needed
- Attend coaches’ meetings, training sessions, and school functions as required
- Ensure adherence to school, district, and league policies and procedures
- Any and all other duties as assigned
- Prior coaching or playing experience in football (preferably at the youth or middle school level)
- Knowledge of football rules, strategies, and safety protocols
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Job Summary:
The Middle School Assistant Football Coach supports the head coach in developing a positive, competitive, and educational football program. The assistant coach helps teach fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline while prioritizing student-athlete growth and safety.
Duties:
Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position is 5% of base teacher salary ($2,462.50 per season), as well as enrollment in a PERA retirement plan and unemployment insurance. Candidates who have previously coached football for Weld Re-9 are eligible for $150 per year as an experience factor. Coaching at other districts or schools does not count towards the experience factor.
