Currently, The Mavo seeks a Music Composer to add to its roster of vetted reserve crew which would potentially be inquired upon as future projects arise or develop.
The Mavo is based in New York City. To be considered for this role, you must be physically located within the United States of America.
Your key responsibilities would be to…
—collaborate seamlessly with the Director to create a new and original musical soundtrack for the project
—guided by the project’s Director, support the story and tell it via new and original music
—write, arrange and orchestrate original music for the project
—perform the music to appear in the project
—creatively lead the Music Department and its crew members
—craft the sound of the original music of the project
—collaborate with other key creative department heads, especially the Sound Department, to realize the best finished project
For this role, we require…
—at least two years of verifiable professional work experience as a Composer on at least three projects
—technical and creative expertise crafting original soundtracks for film and other media
—technical and creative expertise with relevant postproduction audio tools (e.g., Audition)
—at least three professional references
—United States citizenship or a valid United States green card
—a strong passion for films and the film industry (cinephiles and film geeks are always welcome)
We prefer (but don’t require)…
—a bachelor’s degree or higher in music theory, music composition, film production, film studies or another closely related field
—a candidate who is already connected to people who could potentially be hired as part of a Music Department or Orchestra, if needed
—a candidate who possesses their own musical studio and composition and performance tools or is connected to providers who possess such resources
