GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Neurology Nurse Practitioner position at New York Comprehensive Medical Care is a full-time role focused on providing comprehensive care in a busy Multi-Specialty practice. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and intelligent, with a strong interest in neurology and a commitment to long-term employment. This role involves patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication prescription, patient education, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive neurological examinations including motor function, sensory perception, cognitive status, and cranial nerve assessments.
- Interpret diagnostic tests like MRIs, CT scans, EEG, EMG/NCV's, and cognitive testing to diagnose neurological conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans including medication management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and lifestyle modifications.
- Prescribe medications for neurological conditions such as anticonvulsants, anti-Parkinsonian medications, and muscle relaxants.
- Provide detailed information to patients about their neurological condition, treatment options, and self-management strategies.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, and patient families to coordinate care.
Requirements
- BLS Certification
- Graduate Nurse
- Mid-level Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
- Bachelor's degree
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner - in New York State
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
- Strong clinical skills in acute care, neurology, and pain management.
- Knowledge of coding practices related to healthcare services is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients and collaborate with other healthcare providers
- Ability to manage complex cases and provide compassionate care to patients with neurological conditions.
