Job Description:
New Patient Facilitator The New Patient Facilitator, under general supervision, maintains performance standards appropriate to area by obtaining new referrals and all necessary records are in place for all newly scheduled cancer patients. Uses utmost caution that obtained records, referrals and results are accurate according to the actual test, and procedure .Contacts patients to complete new patient paperwork and obtain any necessary information prior to time of service. Meets with in-house patients, as needed, to discuss demographic and clinical information, obtain required signatures, etc.SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
- Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
- Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
- Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to navigate and utilize web browsers, payer web sites, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other software applicable to position
- Proficiency in performance of basic math functions, capability of communicating professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Exhibits effective time management skills and maintains flexibility by being available for all partners and team
- Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
- Types over 25 words per minute
- Demonstrates working knowledge of health insurance types, eligibility, and benefits
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Associate and/or higher-level education or completed coursework preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Six months experience in healthcare, Patient Access, Customer Service or related area (registration, finance, customer service, medical office, or contract management) required
- Previous experience with patient healthcare records and/or referrals preferred
