Job Description:
Partnership Academy has a strong commitment to culturally and developmentally relevant academic instruction for all students. Through a highly collaborative culture, Partnership Academy educators work in teams to provide differentiated and hands-on instruction using a co-teaching model. Partnership Academy requires its teaching staff to constantly improve their instruction in ways that directly impact students’ academic, linguistic, social, and emotional growth.
Middle school educators will be responsible for supporting the creation and implementation of new systems and routines for a developmentally appropriate program for young adolescents in conjunction with a strong team of educators, interventionists, special education co-teachers, and other ML (Multilingual Learner) teachers.
The Middle School ML Teacher will provide a variety of Direct Services such as: SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) ELD (English Language Development), Content Based Instruction, Structured English Instruction, and other approved Service Models depending on school and student needs.
The following are the main responsibilities of the Middle School Multilingual Learner (ML) Teacher.
- Determine eligibility for ML services by examining and requesting Home Language Questionnaires. Analyze cumulative files, WIDA screener and WIDA ACCESS scores and other standardized test scores to determine appropriate academic instruction. Create ILPs (Individualized Learning Plan).
- Collaborate with General Education teachers by co-planning and co-teaching. Work with General Education teachers to adapt and differentiate weekly lesson plans, assessments and homework to meet individual student goals.
- Plan and deliver appropriate quality instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials , and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of individual students in accordance with their ILPs (Individual Language Profiles) and grade level expectations. Educators are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of Minnesota State Standards and WIDA standards.
- Conduct diagnostic, formative and summative assessments. Use progress-monitoring tools such as (Ellevation etc.), WIDA Model to analyze student results for the purpose of modifying and adjusting strategies and programming.
Ensure compliance with federal, state and district ML regulations. - Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress.
- Develop positive rapport with students. Create and foster a positive and calm student- centered learning environment.
- Advocate for students and ensure access to educational opportunities by removing cultural barriers through communication.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid MN Teaching License (Required)
MN ESL License (Preferred)
Bilingual Spanish/English (Preferred)
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students
