Nurse Practitioner Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care across various settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and assisted living facilities. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering comprehensive care to patients of all ages. This role requires a strong background in clinical practice, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical guidelines.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, including laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding health management and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to advance medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
- Manage acute pain management strategies for patients in various settings.
- Provide telehealth services as needed to enhance access to care.
Qualifications
- Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
- Experience in primary care, urgent care, or specialty areas such as gastroenterology or pediatrics preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) for efficient documentation and patient management.
- Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for accurate billing practices.
- Strong clinical skills in areas such as suturing, venipuncture, phlebotomy, catheterization, and airway management.
- Experience with diverse populations including geriatrics, children, and individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic technique in clinical settings.
- Ability to perform procedures such as spinal taps or cardiac catheterization when required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients from various backgrounds.
