Per Diem Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Inpatient Cardiology

Job Overview:
We are looking for a per diem Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiology rounding team in Orange County, CA. This role involves providing care in lower-acuity inpatient settings, including:
- Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals (LTACs)
- Low-acuity hospital consults and follow-ups
- Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs)
You’ll be an important collaborative cardiology team member providing quality care to patients in generally subacute environments. The role is ideal for experienced inpatient APPs who value flexibility and autonomy.
Responsibilities:
- Perform cardiology-focused inpatient rounds
- Conduct consults and follow-up visits
- Communicate effectively with supervising cardiologist(s), patients, and facility staff
- Accurately document care in EMRs
- Provide patient education and coordinate care as needed
Qualifications:
- California NP or PA license (required)
- BLS/ACLS certification (required)
- DEA registration (preferred)
- Minimum 1–2 years of inpatient experience (required)
- Cardiology experience or strong internal medicine background (preferred)
- Comfortable working independently in LTAC/SNF/low acuity hospital environments
- Excellent communication, time management, and clinical skills
Schedule & Workload:
- Per diem / part-time
- 4–8 days/month, fixed or variable schedule depending on coverage, availability, and interest.
- Initial coverage at 1–2 facilities, with average daily census range of 20-25 patients/day with option to increase in the future--may be fewer if not covering both facilities on same day.
