LOCATION: Texas (preferably Dallas–Fort Worth area). Part-time position, 90% remote, with occasional travel required to local mail and shipping centers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.) for package pickup or drop-off.
JOB OVERVIEW
As the Office Assistant and Mail Handler, you will support office operations and ensure efficient mail processing. This role involves handling incoming and outgoing mail, operating mailroom equipment, performing a variety of clerical and administrative support tasks, and assisting with HR-related duties.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mail Handling:
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
- Operate mail-related equipment such as postage machines and sorting machines.
- Prepare mail for dispatch, including wrapping, labeling, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of processed and delivered mail.
- Deliver mail to appropriate departments or office locations.
Office Assistance:
- Operate office equipment such as copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Manage supply rooms and ensure office supplies are stocked and organized.
- Assist with general administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and document management.
- Perform additional clerical support such as making copies, answering phones, and greeting visitors.
- Support HR tasks by assisting with payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and assisting with management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree in business administration, office management, human resources or related field required.
- At least 1 year of office or administrative experience is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email and data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to operate standard office and mailroom equipment (e.g., postage meter, copier, scanner).
