Scope and Responsibility:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the efforts of multiple departments, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, and driving organizational efficiency. This role will provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational support to the following coordinators: Special Events Coordinator, Office Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, Fitness & Membership Coordinator, and Building & Operations Coordinator.
Duties:
- Organize and supervise an efficient administrative organization for the Association. Develop, review, analyze and implement operational procedures required to effectively manage day-to-day operations and implement board approved policies.
- Supervise and support the work of designated coordinators, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Monitor department budgets, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Collaborate with coordinators to plan and execute successful events, marketing campaigns, membership programs, and facility operations.
- Oversee facility management, maintenance schedules, and safety compliance.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through performance metrics and recommend improvements.
- Manage staff development, training, and performance evaluations for coordinators.
- Assist with crisis management and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place.
- Serve as a liaison between senior leadership and operational staff, providing regular updates on progress and challenges.
- Responsible for preparation of department budget estimates and advising.
- Support board committees, as assigned.
- Participate in goal setting and long term planning as part of the Association’s professional management team.
- Responsible to follow all policies and procedures and outlined in the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association Personnel Manual.
- Maintain effective communication with management team members to promote cross departmental cooperation and effective management of intra-departmental activities.
- Accept special projects as assigned by Executive Director.
Certifications / Minimum Requirements:
- American Red Cross (or equivalent) CPR / First Aid / Blood borne Pathogens for Infants and\ Children
- Preferred Certification: Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
Specifications/Preferences
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management or equivalent
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing budgets, logistics, and facility operations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Drivers' license with a clean driving record, background check required
- Proven ability to operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to; utility vehicles, must be able to safely operate and haul trailers
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods when needed.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays if necessary
