A Brief Overview
Accountable for assisting Optometrists with visual testing and responsible for sales of optometric frames and lenses (contact or glass), interpreting and dispensing optical prescriptions and fitting eyeglasses or contact lenses to meet the customer's needs, comfort and appearance.
What you will do
- Answers multiple line telephone and routes calls appropriately, alerting appropriate personnel to urgent messages/issues that require immediate attention.
- Greets and checks in patients by verifying and updating necessary information related to medical history, medications, family history, social history, etc. and updates the electronic health record.
- Directs patients, visitors, reps, vendors in prompt, courteous and helpful manner providing information within scope of knowledge and refers to appropriate individuals.
- Collects co-pays and patient balances at time of service and documents appropriately. Maintains electronic credit card payments, follows procedure for daily cash receipts and daily verifies cash on hand.
- Schedules and maintains appointments by following set parameters in electronic health record.
- Assists patient in selling glasses and contacts and assists patient per clinic policy.
- Makes minor repairs and adjustments to frames or replaces according to clinic policy.
- At the discretion of the physician per the Avera Medical Group prescription drug refill policy, writes prescriptions, and approves drug refills.
- Will be cross-trained in all areas of the optometry office to assist in the patient care delivery system.
