We provide safe, structured transitional housing and compassionate support to help residents rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and purpose. Position Summary
Serenity Homes of Napa Valley is seeking a meticulous and reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to help manage day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate is experienced in nonprofit bookkeeping and motivated by our mission to support individuals in recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks (desktop version)
- Prepare and process in-house payroll
- Process accounts payable/receivable and manage expense tracking
- Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Support grant tracking and restricted fund reporting
- Prepare materials for audits, board meetings, and IRS filings (e.g., Form 990)
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and practices
- Maintain organized digital financial documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years bookkeeping experience (nonprofit preferred)
- Experience processing in-house payroll preferred
- Proficient with QuickBooks desktop and Excel, Word
- Knowledge of fund accounting and nonprofit compliance
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
- Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Passion for supporting recovery and housing-focused nonprofit work a plus
Work Environment
- Core office hours are 10am to 2pm Monday through Friday. Hours are negotiable, but availability during core hours preferred
