A Parts Counter Associate in our Isuzu Commercial Truck Dealership is responsible for providing essential parts support to both retail and internal customers, ensuring an efficient flow of parts and information within the operation. This role is the main point of contact for parts sales, inventory management, and order fulfillment, requiring strong customer service skills, technical knowledge of truck components, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist walk-in, phone, and shop customers with identifying, locating, and purchasing necessary truck parts.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities, with a customer-first approach.
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure.
- General computer proficiency and experience with parts management systems.
- Basic to advanced understanding of commercial truck components and industry terminology.
- Previous parts counter or automotive/trucking industry experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certification is a plus.
A Parts Counter Associate plays a critical role in keeping commercial truck operations running smoothly by efficiently managing parts supply and customer requests in a dynamic dealership environment
- Sell parts over the counter, via phone, and to the service department, utilizing electronic and printed catalogs for accuracy.
- Process customer orders, provide price quotes, and finalize sales, including handling returns and exchanges.
- Pull parts from inventory, coordinate with technicians, and prepare orders for delivery or pickup.
- Order special or out-of-stock parts, track shipments, and follow up with customers regarding order status.
- Maintain organized parts inventory, perform regular inventory counts, and help replenish stock levels.
- Ensure all transactions and records are processed accurately, including billing, invoicing, and warranty returns.
- Keep the parts counter, workspace, and warehouse clean and professional.
- Provide technical guidance and answer questions regarding part compatibility, truck systems, and recommended companion parts.
- Collaborate closely with service advisors, technicians, and outside sales representatives for seamless workflow.
Skills
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to better serve our diverse clientele.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inventory efficiently and maintain an orderly workspace.
- Previous experience in retail sales is a plus, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Familiarity with automotive repair processes can enhance communication with customers seeking assistance in this area.
- Proficient in Excel for effective inventory management and reporting purposes.
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with customers and team members alike.
