The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll and assisting employees with all aspects of the benefit programs. This role serves as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and supports HR and Finance teams in maintaining accurate compensation and benefit records.

Your main responsibilities will be:
- Preparation and processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records including new hires, terminations, wage changes, position changes, taxes, benefits, etc.
- Administer employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, short term and long term disability, and wellness programs.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Reconcile payroll totals into ERP system and ensure accurate financial & cost center postings.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze payroll and benefits data, identifying trends, draw logical conclusions and draft internal communications.
- Able to prepare and generate reports utilizing information from various systems.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for department processes and procedures.
- Conduct employee education sessions to help employees understand their benefit options and coverage levels.
- Understand benefits plan design at a high-level.
- Assists new hire orientations and open enrollment process.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- 2+ years of experience in payroll and benefit administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of compensation and benefits best practices and industry trends.
- Experience with HRIS/HRMS systems.
- Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant certifications (i.e. SHRM-CP/SCP, CPP) is a plus.
