Summary

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist plays a key role in supporting payroll processing and benefits administration. This position is responsible for processing biweekly payroll and assisting with administering Emmi Roth’s benefits program. Key responsibilities include providing responsive support to employees regarding payroll and benefits questions. Assisting with onboarding and offboarding processes related to compensation and benefits. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.

This is a part-time position, approximately 30 hours per week, and includes eligibility for company benefits.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Payroll

  • Process biweekly payroll, off-cycle adjustments, and other authorized payroll transactions, and provide weekly hours reports to temporary agencies
  • Verifies and enters payroll adjustments, retro pay, refunds, and other pay related matters
  • Assist with garnishment, and support order processing and responses to agencies
  • Assist with ensuring smooth operation of ADP and timeclocks across all locations
  • Assist with compiling data for participation in multiple external compensation surveys
  • Assist with auditing benefit invoices, reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution


Benefits

  • Assist with processing benefits enrollments including new hire and qualifying life events
  • Assist with processing and tracking leave requests including FMLA, and Short and Long-term disability
  • Assist with monitoring benefits eligibility and ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations
  • Support annual compliance audits, reporting requirements, and filing including 5500, 401(k) audits
  • Handle benefit invoices and reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution
  • All other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll processing, human resources, or administrative support.
  • Experience with ADP or other payroll/timekeeping systems is a plus.
  • Prior experience handling confidential employee information and HR documentation is preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll and data entry.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to resolve discrepancies and inquiries.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.


Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, garnishments, and benefits reconciliation is a plus.
  • Willingness to adapt and assist with various HR functions as needed.
