Position Summary:
The People Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and talent development processes across the organization—including front office, hockey operations, and game-day staff. Key Responsibilities: Recruiting & Hiring Support
Post open positions and manage job listings across internal and external platforms

- Pre-screen candidates based on pre-set criteria and qualifications
- Coordinate interview scheduling between candidates and hiring managers
- Assist with candidate communications and logistics throughout the hiring process
- Maintain the applicant tracking system (ATS), ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
- Support team hiring events, career fairs, and diversity-focused outreach
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Support CPO and hiring manager with offer process logistics
- Coordinate preboarding experience
- Facilitate new hire onboarding logistics, including background checks, I-9s, swag kits, and welcome communications
- Prepare onboarding schedules and coordinate introductions across departments
- Schedule new hire orientation activities
- Manage offboarding processes including exit surveys and access removal coordination
Talent & Culture Operations
- Assist with employee lifecycle documentation (promotions, status changes, etc.)
- Track and report talent metrics such as headcount, turnover, and hiring trends
- Support culture-building programs including recognition, team-building events, and seasonal staff orientations
- Maintain digital and physical personnel records in accordance with privacy laws and team policies
Benefits Administration
- Serve as first point of contact for benefit enrollment, questions, and administration
- Assist in completion of annual open enrollment activities including materials development, overview sessions and compliance
Administrative & Project Support
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions, performance cycles, and talent planning meetings
- Assist with HR and Hockey Ops special projects as needed (e.g., internship programs, diversity initiatives, compliance audits)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Legal, Payroll, IT, and Facilities
- Maintain HR Sharepoint site content
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Sports Management, Business, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in recruiting, HR coordination, or related administrative roles
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Action-oriented with a high sense of urgency
- Comfort working with data, spreadsheets and HR systems
- Experience handling confidential information with discretion
- Experience working in sports, entertainment, retail, hospitality or mission-driven organizations is a plus
Work Environment:
- Standard business hours with flexibility to support evening/weekend games or team events.
- Hybrid schedule with regular in-office presence and on-site support during key events or programs.
- Ability to travel to UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex as needed.
