Full job description
Piano Buds in a Pod (https://pianobuds.com/) is a warm, modern, and fast-growing music studio dedicated to helping kids, teens and adults discover a love for learning piano—and make progress they’re proud of. We focus on group piano lessons along with individual lessons. We are also a Steinway Educational Partner.
Our Upper East Side studio is welcoming, energetic, and is an important part of the local community. We believe music lessons should be the highlight of a student’s week—and the same should be true for our teachers.
About the Role
We’re looking for a piano teacher who brings both structure and spark—someone who knows how to guide students with clarity, while keeping lessons fun, expressive, and full of heart.
This is a part-time teaching position (in-studio and at-home), with the opportunity to grow into more hours, group classes, student leadership, or curriculum development as the studio expands. You’ll be supported with clear systems, a collaborative team, and a studio culture that values results and joy.
What You'll Do
- Teach private and small-group piano lessons to students ages 3–18 and adult students
- Use our accelerated learning framework to help students make measurable progress
- Keep lessons fun, engaging, and student-centered
- Communicate regularly and positively with parents
- Collaborate with the studio team on scheduling, events, and planning
- Participate in recitals, performance challenges, and special events
- Show up prepared, on time, and ready to bring your best energy to every lesson
What We're Looking For
- Strong piano skills and working knowledge of music theory
- 1+ year of teaching experience (private or group)
- Experience working with children or teens
- Clear and friendly communication skills
- Strong organization and time management
- Comfort with technology and learning new systems
- A warm, upbeat, and encouraging teaching style
- Piano Buds in a Pod does not sponsor work visas and you must have prior authorization to work.
Bonus Points For:
- Group teaching experience
- Experience with creative lesson planning, games, or interactive learning tools
- A desire to grow long-term with a values-driven studio
Schedule
Teaching hours are available Monday through Saturday, primarily between 4-8pm on weekdays and 10am-2pm on Saturdays. A minimum of two consistent teaching days per week is required. In-studio instruction is strongly preferred but we may also offer at home teaching opportunities.
Benefits
- Paid training and onboarding
- You will get paid even when students are absent.
- Complimentary studio membership for personal use if students do not turn up or during non-peak hours.
- Access to modern facilities, technology, and teaching materials
- Performance opportunities as part of annual student recital in Steinway Hall
