Pacific Packaging Products, an innovative, rapidly growing market leader in the area of Industrial Packaging is looking for a Purchasing Professional to join our procurement team. The company has experienced steady growth over the last several years and is in need of an experienced person to add to the team.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the buyer is responsible for purchasing products and ensuring the availability of product for customer purchase. The ability to select, negotiate, and manage, multiple strategic vendors, while ensuring lead-times and effective inventory levels are the key functions of this position. This individual will actively purchase and manage several packaging related commodities. .
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Purchase weekly from select replenishment vendors product necessary to meet customer requirements.
- Source products as requested by the Purchasing Manager or at the request of sales personnel.
- Research various vendors for the products needed and determine the details of their product line. Make recommendations to the Purchasing Manager.
- Prepare and process purchase orders pursuant to company procedures.
- Assist Purchasing Manager in continually evaluating pricing, service and product specifications to meet company and customer standards.
- Act as a total business partner to all departments within the company to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
- Maximize company profitability level through effective and efficient procurement and negotiation processes.
- Develop new sources of supply.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with vendors.
- Familiarity with poly, shrink, and various film products is a plus.
The successful candidate should be a self-starter, strong communicator, well-organized and detail oriented. The candidate should also be able to continue to work efficiently and accurately under pressure in a busy office environment. The ability to multi-task is also required. A background in purchasing/material planning is preferred but not required. College degree preferred
