Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Production Manager is to be a resource to production supervisors that engages GSM employees and teams, suppliers and customers in releasing production constraints of machines, skills or resources to create elegant innovative production processes that result in safe, clean and productive manufacturing environments throughout our organization. Other responsibilities that are specific to this position include:
- Safely meeting productivity and quality expectations
- Planning, designing and executing improved production systems and processes
- Creating alignment between production supervisors and corporate strategic plans
- Stepping into supervisory role during temporary absences of critical supervisory staff
- Communicating production hurdles to Production Manager with sound well planned solutions
- Communicating important tactical instructions
- Managing expedited orders effectively
- Collaborating with supervisors, equipment specialists and facilities manager to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are maintained
- Manage direct labor requirements to support production schedules by collaborating with scheduling and production supervisors
- Collaborate with scheduling to determine work center capacity hours required to meet customer requirements
- Collaborating with Engineering to ensure engineering changes processes are robust enough to swiftly respond to customer changes
- Directing specialists to find integrated solutions
- Participating in non-conformance issues as requested
- Planning future equipment needs with VP of Manufacturing, engineers and supervisors
- Collaborating and process mapping to identify inputs, sub-processes, outputs and outcomes that have the greatest opportunity for reducing waste and improving predictability.
- Driving to fully understand root cause of any problem before any process improvement is undertaken
- Developing innovative ways to teach our employees to become collaborating team members who think critically to understand current state, problem solve and implement solutions to substandard processes
- Managing shift to ensure productivity expectations are met
- Demonstrating lean discipline in all aspects of work
- Mentoring and teaching project management to future leaders
- Collaborating with the Scheduling, Logistics, suppliers and customers to remove supply chain obstacles and increase throughput
- Collaborating with the Director of Cultural Development, Quality Manager, Quality Technicians, and Safety Manager to ensure process improvements focus on fabrication quality while maintaining the highest degree of safety for all employees
Education
- Lean manufacturing for the job shop certification (preferred)
S Supervisor certification (preferred)

Experience
Minimum of 5 years of supervising experience in welding operations preferred
Required working knowledge of:
- Blueprint Reading with welding symbols
- Material forming principles
- Welding safety systems
- Welding controls

- Production Lead – Machining
- Production Machining Center Operators (1st Shift Only)
Additional Responsibilities
