Production Superintendent

Night Shift 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Summary Description:
Direct the supervisors and production team members in their respective shop floor tasks to ensure that production meets or exceeds safety, efficiency, timeliness and quality standards. Direct and mentor supervisors to achieve the same goals.
Essential Functions:
- Create and maintain a safe work environment for all employees and guests.
- Direct supervisors and hourly employees to assure they are engaged, working productively on task and meeting the goals of the organization
- Provide positive reinforcement, constructive feedback, and discipline as needed to develop employees and maintain respect on the floor
- Mentor other supervisors to assure they and their employees are meeting the same expectations
- Perform annual performance appraisals on all direct reports
- Understand production measurables and manage labor and for maximum efficiency
- Actively promote and ensure a safe working environment in their respective areas and that employees are working safely
- Provide training on production/shop floor tasks for new employees and refresher training as needed to meet company expectations. Use written training documents to assure consistent training
- Understand production requirements for effective use of equipment and employees to assure product flows according to company goals and expectations
- Manage Key Performance Indicators related to area of responsibility including setting goals, defining focus areas, and performing monthly meetings to review performance and evaluate action plans. Include shop floor employees in this process
- Assure the quality of work in their area meets expectations
- Assure that productivity goals are communicated, monitored and evaluated
- Maintain a clean and organized work areas throughout the plant
- Keep the outside of the building organized and clear of clutter
- Develop and execute plans for their employees to care for equipment in their areas, monitor performance and notify maintenance when additional attention is needed; follow up with maintenance as needed to assure effective equipment performance
- Develop and execute written plans for the use of maintenance shutdown periods
- Participate in employee shift meetings to promote communication
- Act as a liaison between the shop floor and executive management
- Attend production/management meetings
- Implement continuous improvement on the shop floor
- Recommend major capital projects needed in their area
- Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned

Requirements
Skills or Experience Required:
- 5 years’ experience in a high-level manufacturing leadership role
- Experience in driving process improvements and manufacturing excellence
- Understand manufacturing processes and metrics
- Must be computer literate, organized and possess leadership skills
- Post-Secondary education a plus
