PURPOSE
The Program & Strategy Manager, Manufacturing Digital Transformation will be responsible for shaping and guiding the digital transformation strategy for manufacturing while also driving the execution of digital transformation initiatives across mills. This role will focus on ensuring the successful implementation of key projects and the adoption of digital tools and technologies to enhance manufacturing operations. This role demands leadership in implementing projects, coordinating across teams, and ensuring that all initiatives align with business goals while delivering tangible improvements in manufacturing operations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Manufacturing Digital Transformation Strategic Development and Planning:
- Develop strategies for key initiatives in the manufacturing digital transformation portfolio including mobile workforce, asset performance management, transformative controls, and industrial data landscape.
- Ensure alignment of digital transformation initiatives with the broader manufacturing digital transformation strategy, corporate strategy and business objectives.
- Identify and prioritize strategic opportunities for digital transformation across manufacturing functions.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging digital technologies and their potential impact on manufacturing operations.
- Drive innovation by identifying and evaluating new technologies and approaches that can enhance manufacturing performance and efficiency.
- Monitor and track investments and value tied to overall manufacturing digital transformation and broader impacts to the organization.
- Lead and manage a portfolio of projects aligned to Sylvamo’s manufacturing digital transformation which includes connected workforce, asset performance management, transformative controls, and industrial data landscape.
- Develop and manage detailed implementation plans at an enterprise level and by mill, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, to ensure successful project execution.
- Collaborate closely with mill and functional teams to design, execute, and deliver transformation initiatives that align with strategic objectives.
- Align to Sylvamo’s capital approval processes including FEL stages of project development and budgeting.
- Engage with manufacturing transformation core teams, implementation teams, and site teams in the development of initiative strategies from an enterprise viewpoint that also take into account the needs of individual mills.
- Lead strategic discussions with mill and functional leaders to ensure alignment with the transformation strategy and address potential roadblocks.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry experts to stay ahead of industry trends and best practices.
- Engage with leadership to remove barriers and navigate resourcing needs.
- Develop leadership materials and report outs related to manufacturing transformation progress.
- Work closely with change management teams to develop and deliver training programs that equip operational staff with the necessary skills to use new digital tools effectively.
- Act as the primary point of contact for mill operations teams, ensuring that digital transformation initiatives are seamlessly integrated into day-to-day operations.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between IT, engineering, and operational teams to address challenges and optimize execution.
- Collaborate with corporate communications, change management teams, human resources as needed to ensure forward progression of transformation messaging to the organization.
- Coordinate support for site teams during deployment phases ensuring smooth implementation.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver on their commitments.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor the performance of manufacturing digital transformation initiatives, ensuring they deliver the expected operational improvements.
- Regularly review progress against goals, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions as needed to keep projects on track.
- Prepare and present detailed progress reports to leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Regularly review and adjust the digital transformation initiative strategy based on feedback, performance metrics, and evolving business needs.
- Stay current with industry best practices and trends in manufacturing digital transformation.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the successful execution of transformation initiatives.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of deployed solutions, gathering feedback from users and making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in digital transformation, applying these insights to enhance program execution.
- Lead post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and apply them to future mill implementations.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, business, IT, or a related field.
- 8 - 10 years of experience managing and leading projects/programs in the manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on operational execution supporting solution delivery for large enterprise projects.
- Understanding of Sylvamo’s manufacturing operations and technology investments, preferred.
- Proven track record and experience of successfully managing large, cross-organization programs and teams consisting of multiple projects or tracks on large, global initiatives utilizing a standard, formal project methodology.
- Competent in all phases of the project delivery lifecycle from process design through production support.
- Skilled in developing project documentation such as scope definition, work breakdown structure, organization breakdown structure, project plan, schedule, budget, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, with the ability to translate digital transformation strategies into actionable plans.
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clear, concise communication for multiple audiences and levels in the organization.
- Excellent stakeholder management with ability to influence, persuade and negotiate.
- Project Management Professional (PMI PMP), Program Management Professional (PMI PgMP) certifications.
- Understanding of Agile product methodologies, preferred. Agile certification a plus.
