We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Purchasing Manager to join our Supply House team in Glassboro, NJ. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, exceptional negotiation skills, and an in-depth understanding of market pricing trends. This role is critical in ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining the highest quality standards for our construction projects.
Purchasing Manager Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate suppliers for construction materials, equipment, and services.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to secure the best terms for the company.
- Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to inform purchasing decisions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Receive purchase requests from internal staff and write purchase orders as required.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and services to meet project deadlines.
- Collaborate with project coordinators and estimators to understand project requirements.
- Recommend alternative and equal product to internal staff and salesman based on what is on hand and pricing considerations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.
- Manage budgets and provide cost analyses to optimize spending.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all procurement activities.

Purchasing Manager Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a buyer in the construction industry.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of construction materials, equipment, and pricing trends.
- Proficiency in software including NetSuite, SalesForce, and Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and legal terms a plus.
