Primary Job Duties:
Ramp Agents are responsible for processing baggage between baggage areas in the airport facilities and aircraft, as well as receiving and dispatching aircraft.

  • Loading and unloading aircraft and carts
  • Stacking and unstacking baggage in aircraft
  • Complete safety checklists for motorized equipment
  • Drive and operate motorized equipment (e.g., conveyor belt)
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags
  • Escort passengers and special needs customers safely and courteously
  • Ensure compliance with SkyWest and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies
Minimum Requirements:
We are looking for individuals excited to take on new challenges, especially within the airline industry! SkyWest Ramp Agents come from a wide range of backgrounds, education, interests, and experience.

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Possess a valid unrestricted state-issued driver’s license
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Position-specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs clearances required
  • Able to pass a pre-placement background check and drug screen
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Ability to lift heavy bags more than 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
  • Attend 4 days of Basic Station Training
  • Flexible schedule required, including availability to work split shifts including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Due to the nature of the operation, employees may be asked to remain onsite beyond their scheduled end time in response to irregular operations
  • This is a full-time position, starting at $20 an hour

Training Schedule

This Below Wing Ramp training program spans 5 weeks and includes both computer-based and hands-on ramp instruction. Training is held 4 days per week, approximately 9 hours per day, with scheduled breaks and a lunch period. Tardiness and absence are not tolerated.

  • Week 1 (0800–1700): Computer-based training, station orientation
  • Week 2 (0530–1400): Station opening procedures, additional CBT, general ramp training
  • Week 3 (0900–1800): Midday operations, GSE orientation, plane turns, ramp training
  • Week 4 (1500–closure): RON procedures, turning planes, station closure
  • Week 5: Completion checks, wrap-up, skills sign-off, scheduling and bidding overview

  • This is not a Department of Transportation safety-sensitive position
