About this role:
Entering Queensland Rail’s Major Projects division, you will be working with the System Integration and Assurance Team as a Requirements Manager. You will be using your systems engineering assurance, requirements management, verification and validation expertise and leadership skills within a multi-disciplinary and multi-party environment, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, and operationally effective.
This role is a fixed term role until 31 January, 2031 based in Brisbane CBD.
You can expect some of your responsibilities to include:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Requirements Community of Practice, driving the adoption, consistent application and continuous improvement of requirements engineering best practices across projects and programs.
- Establish and implement effective requirements management, including the development and maintenance of relevant Requirements Management procedures and guidelines as relevant for each project.
- Advocate and provide expert feedback and input from projects into the Queensland Rail Requirements Management Framework, Requirements Management procedures and guidelines to facilitate smooth handover on project delivery.
- Lead assurance reviews and audits of systems engineering, requirements management and verification and validation processes to ensure project delivery partners operate in accordance with approved plans, Queensland Rail requirements, and industry best practice.
- Foster strong collaboration with project stakeholders, principals, and delivery partner counterparts to ensure project deliverables meet Queensland Rail's requirements and quality expectations.
- Provide leadership to elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
- Lead the writing of requirements specifications according to international standard ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148 and Queensland Rail standards and procedures, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely, ensuring they are specific, measurable, attainable, realisable and traceable and issue new baselines for Requirements Specifications when approved changes are implemented.
- Define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints and other non-functional requirements and ensure traceability of requirements to verification and validation evidence.
- Assume accountability for ensuring that all requirements are allocated and confirm that requirements are transmitted and accepted by the entity responsible for their implementation.
- Lead requirements verification and validation process and participate in formal gate reviews (design, construction and commissioning) to assess compliance of the technical outputs against the requirements.
What you can bring to the role:
- High level leadership, analytical thinking, problem solving and management skills to deliver consistent and optimal outcomes across large, dynamic and complex safety-orientated organisation.
- Extensive knowledge of rail infrastructure systems, engineering disciplines, and interrelationships between engineering, operational, and assurance functions.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant engineering legislation, standards, operations and practices and their application within rail systems and operations.
- Extensive knowledge of rail transport operations, associated legislation and organisational governance principles within the Rail Industry.
- Extensive experience in the use and administration of IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next Generation application.
- Highly desirable experience with other IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) applications, including Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Engineering Test Management (ETM) and Engineering Lifecyle Optimization - Publishing (PUB).
- Demonstrated expertise in requirements development, analysis, and management, with the ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate workshops to elicit, define, validate, and gain agreement on requirements.
- High level of influencing, interpersonal, consultation, stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups.
