Cascade Dafo is currently hiring a full-time Safety/Leave of Absence Administrator at our Ferndale facility. This position will monitor workplace activities to promote and ensure team members' compliance with applicable safety policies, best practices, and regulations as well as fully manage the workers’ compensation program for the company while focusing on the prevention of injuries and occupational disease. This role includes the administration of team members’ leave of absence programs and accommodations, such as workplace accident leave, short- and long-term disability, WA PFML, and FMLA.
Safety Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform the workforce on workplace safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention regulations and procedures.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Tracks, investigates, and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents.
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and similar documents.
- Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.
- Implements a consistent process for recording, investigating, and reporting workers’ compensation claims complying with laws and regulations; prepares and submits required reporting and documentation to OSHA, state and local agencies, and other entities.
- Monitors all claims and communicates claim status, including necessary APF details, with team members, managers, and other parties involved with workers compensation claims.
- Regularly holds safety committee meetings; follows guidelines to elect new safety committee members.
- Responds to workplace injuries, administers first aid as necessary.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure outside threats related to workplace and team member safety are addressed.
Leave of Absence Duties and Responsibilities
- Informs team members of qualifying leaves and accommodations available including FMLA, WA PFML, ADA, Worker’s Comp, and disability leaves.
- Monitors and tracks leave status, documentation, and return to work dates; records leave related absences in timekeeping program.
- Follows company policies regarding Keep-On-Salary (KOS) programs for workplace accidents.
- Communicates with health care providers as necessary to clarify/address provided documentation.
- Coordinates with departments to develop modified work and/or return to work accommodations according to company policy; communicates details with team member.
- Provides payroll backup as necessary.

- Broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations and leave of absence programs.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of all regulations and laws for reporting workers' compensation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various department heads to ensure safety and LOA compliance.
- Ability to follow strict confidentiality policies regarding medical, personal, and wage knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training to a diverse population.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Must be able to communicate in English, written and verbal.
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- One year of related experience, required.
- Forklift trainer certified (or ability to become certified); able to obtain other training certifications when needed.
- Experience in a role that required strict confidentiality, required.
- Experience in training, preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of ergonomics in the workplace and the prevention of occupational diseases.
- First Aid and bloodborne pathogens certified.
- Ability to travel throughout facility to conduct safety inspections, ability to adapt to prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

- Competitive Wages: Full wage range for this role is $74,443 - $95,596.
