SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

The Department of Surgery Chair Office has an open Senior Communications Manager position.
General Responsibilities
- Creates, drafts, and implements a variety of communications and marketing needs/collateral, and/or manages a team member in this function.
- Supports/implements communications and marketing for a variety of platforms including mass email, social media, web, etc.
- Works closely with unit leadership, including chair/assistant/associate dean, etc.
- Manages strategy and implementation for content creation and specific communications projects, such as executive communications, editorial content, and social media for institution/school/department/center.
- Oversee complex priorities and multiple stakeholders (i.e. multiple departments, multiple leaders, multiple centers/institutes).
- Works closely with leadership to determine key strategic areas to be highlighted through communications and develop content campaigns and timelines.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises at least one team member/intern or key program or priority area/key program/center within institution/school/complex department with numerous divisions/sections.
- Collaborates across the team, including web and design, to offer stakeholders a broad range of communications tools.
- Plans, creates, and oversees the design, content, and production of marketing materials related to corporate communications initiatives.
- Executes communications strategy and projects in alignment with the university’s external and internal strategy, develops targeted written content for specific school, department or center audiences, sets best practices and processes in their functional areas, operates as a resource and conducting trainings for other communicators in these specific areas.
- Promotes communication of key messages and adherence to style guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred
- Previous communication management or leadership experience
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Positive attitude/behavior, with demonstrated flexibility, and a willingness to learn new communication platforms and an exceptional team player.
Salary Range\: $60,835-$98,855
