Job Purpose & Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Social Services Program Manager, the Caseworker is responsible for providing client services and case management. The caseworker is responsible for interviewing clients to gather financial and demographic information; assessing client situations to develop, implement and evaluate client case/service plans; making referrals for community resources and services; verifying client information; documenting client records; and accurately processing application within established timeframes according to program guidelines. This is the first level of the caseworker position.

Job Purpose & Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Social Services Program Manager, the Caseworker is responsible for providing client services and case management. The caseworker is responsible for interviewing clients to gather financial and demographic information; assessing client situations to develop, implement and evaluate client case/service plans; making referrals for community resources and services; verifying client information; documenting client records; and accurately processing application within established timeframes according to program guidelines. This is the first level of the caseworker position.
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values
- Conduct interviews with people to gather financial and demographic information via telephone and face to face.
- Verify client information, obtain proper documentation for each client file, and maintain up to date client case files.
- Staff each client application to determine eligibility
- Assess client situations and develop client case/service plans.
- Prepare narratives on all client contacts and document all case activity.
- Conduct home visits on a monthly basis as needed.
- Communicate regularly with clients; give timely notice regarding any changes, updates, and notices.
- Process all services within required timeframes
- Enter all client files and activity in the Data Bank (TAS) computer systems in a timely and accurate manner.
- Identify community resources and develop relationships for client referrals
- Collaborate with tribal and State agencies to verify and or/child support services received by clients
- Work with and advocate on behalf of clients to access community services available to them.
- Establish supportive relationships with clients and work closely with families to provide needed supportive/preventive services related to self-sufficiency for clients
- Administer or refer active clients for random urinalysis
- Provide on-going support and services to sanctioned clientele.
- Complete and provide all required reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of client programming for job preparation and self-sufficiency

- High School Diploma or GED plus one year of college accredited course work and one year of experience providing services to the public is required. Associate’s degree is preferred.
- Must be willing and able to engage in employee training and development of an educational plan.
- One-year experience working with Native Americans is required.
- Must be able to work after normal work hours.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must be timely, dependable, courteous, and maintain a business-like appearance.
- Ability to interact and build rapport with peers and clients, to remain non-judgmental and value and accept differences in people, and to observe, assess and address behavior is required.
- Must possess keyboarding skills for data entry and be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality and will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
- Knowledge of P.L. 102-477 is highly desirable and a willingness to learn is required.
- Knowledge of Confidentiality Laws and Regulations is highly desirable and a willingness to learn is required.
- Knowledge of Winnebago culture and traditions is highly desirable and a willingness to learn is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain valid insurance, and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
- Normal to Medium office work which includes the ability to lift up to 11-30 lbs.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
- While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
