A long-term substitute special education teacher is needed for Winooski High Schools Alternative Program. This teacher would be responsible for classroom instruction in the content area of math and case management for students in grades 9-12 within the Alternative High School Program. QUALIFICATIONS Must hold Vermont License as Special Education Teacher and in the content area of Math at the high school level or the ability for a provisional license. Experience working with students who are multilingual (ML) would be a plus.

Experience with co-teaching would also be a plus. Summary of Position Responsibilities - Seeking a Special Educator to teach students at the High School level. Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other therapeutic responses are a plus. Consistent with state and federal law, case manages, coordinates and provides an effective and efficient system of special education supports & services designed to meet the needs of assigned students, and effectively integrate students into the least restrictive environment.

Instruct students in basic skills using a variety of approaches and strategies. Plans for students who have demonstrated behavior and/or learning problems that require intervention and instruction, which may include students who have demonstrated significant behavior and learning problems that require intensive intervention and instruction. Responsibilities include: Provide specialized instruction to students.Provide classroom instruction to students in the area of math.Ability to develop, implement and train staff with behavior & crisis plans and programs for specific students.Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff with plan development and implementation.Model effective behavior management strategies to students and staff.Keep detailed data on student progress.Regular ongoing collaboration with clinical team, classroom teachers and outside providers.Completing IEPs according to state and federal guidelines.Development of behavior & crisis plans.Support the District Evaluator by attending eligibility meetings for special education eligibility in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, policies, procedures, and laws.Participating in effective periodic meetings for assigned students.Soliciting and/or receiving regular feedback, such as progress reports, incident reports, outside assessments, and data Effectively integrates information and makes recommendations for the IEP team. Completing IEP progress reports.Ensuring students are educated in the Least Restrictive Environment and developing programming that meets individual student needs.Maintaining accurate, timely records, logs, evaluations, plans, data collection and other documentation.Supervision & training of classroom assistants.This candidate must be a team player who enjoys working with high school students, and has excellent classroom management skills.Katherine BlairDirector of Support [email protected]
