Special Education Coordinator
Overview:
The Special EducationCoordinator oversees all aspects of special education services across assigned schools, ensuring compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and EL programs. This includes managing identification, evaluation, and support for students with disabilities and providing training, oversight, and guidance to school staff.Key Responsibilities:
Manage all stages of the special education process (Child Find, evaluations, IEP/504 plan development, implementation, and reviews).
Ensure instructional practices align with student IEPs.
Review and ensure compliance of evaluations and IEP documents.
Serve as system administrator for IEP-Pro.
Train and support general and special education staff on compliance, accommodations, FAPE, and referral processes.
Oversee student transfers, initial evaluations, and re-evaluations.
Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Coordinate hearing and vision screenings.
Collaborate with testing coordinators to ensure testing accommodations.
Maintain communication with school leadership and central support staff.
Supervise itinerant service providers.
Act as point of contact for private or out-of-district placements.
Assess program needs and recommend staffing allocations.
Monitor state and federal compliance, including ADE reviews.
Report timely and accurate data for compliance and internal use.
Support EL and SPED staff to maintain compliance.
Coordinate contingency meetings as legal education agent when needed.
Serve as liaison among SPED, EL, and school leadership.
Provide ESS/EL training and coaching as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (or applicable state background check)
1+ year in a special education leadership role
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred:
Master's degree in special education or related field
Special education certification; CPI or TACT-2 training
Experience with e-IEP-Pro and/or PowerSchool
