To ensure that duty station requests are addressed while maintaining quality coverage across Nebraska, the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) has implemented a system where candidates will know their duty station before beginning training at the NSP Training Academy.
Camp #73 starts on January 5, 2026. Graduation will be on June 18, 2026.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- You must be a U.S. citizen before attending the academy on 1/5/2026.
- You must be 21 years old by graduation on 6/18/2026.
- High school or homeschool diploma or GED.
- Read, write, and understand the English language at the eleventh grade level (Test of Adult Basic Education required)
- Initial Physical Abilities Test required
- Applicants will undergo a background check, which includes reviewing criminal and traffic violations.
- Full disclosure of drug use or criminal behavior is mandatory; any deception will result in dismissal from the selection process.
- A full background investigation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and medical exam.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively:
Demonstrate proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English. (Please note: A Test of Adult Basic Education is required, and we will accept scores from Morrow & Associates, NLETC, or other Nebraska law enforcement agencies. Previous NSP test results are also acceptable if you passed.)
- Perceive and interpret information:
Accurately perceive color differences and hear verbal and radio communications.
- Engage with diverse populations:
Interact professionally with individuals from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
- Work independently:
Be self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
