The Epidemiology Program in the Public Health Sciences Division of Fred Hutch is seeking a part-time (10-19 hours per week), temporary Study Assistant to assist with reorganization and inventory of research specimens.
Responsibilities
The candidate should be able to work between 10 and 19 hours per week; flexible hours within reason can be chosen after the initial training period. Under supervision of the specimen coordinator and/or study manager, individual will work with other team members and independently to perform responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Assist with routine office and lab tasks including specimen inventory and organization and transferring racks of frozen research specimens from old freezers to new ones.
- Re-label, sort, and organize research materials and documentation.
- Assist with prepping materials for shipping.
- Electronic record keeping, data entry.
- Scanning and redacting electronic files.
- Address and problem-solve concerns.
- Communicate effectively with team.
- Work in various conditions such as freezers, coolers, storerooms.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate
- Strong oral and written (English) communication and critical thinking skills.
- Experience writing scientific reports and tables in Word.
- Ability to use build and manage Excel databases, including PivotTables.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Experience with electronic record keeping and transacting.
- Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to learn new skills quickly.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to push and pull wheeled objects.
- Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand, squat, bend down, and maneuver.
The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
