About the Role
Are you a detail-oriented student passionate about supply chain and logistics? Join International Grains & Cereal as a Supply Chain & Logistics Intern. This 8–10 week paid internship offers hands-on experience in purchasing, vendor management, ERP systems, and logistics operations. You’ll work closely with leaders in the field, gaining both technical and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Purchasing Analyst and Spare Parts Supervisor with ordering and procurement operations
- Collect and analyze data related to supply chain activities
- Use SAP ByDesign and Excel to record and evaluate purchasing metrics
- Submit weekly reports summarizing progress, insights, and challenges
- Contribute to department initiatives and process improvement projects
- Present findings to leadership and collaborate cross-functionally
Mentorship & Development
- Receive weekly check-ins with supervisors for guidance and support
- Shadow senior leaders, including John Hamil and Leonardo Rivero
- Learn negotiation strategies, vendor management, and purchasing best practices
- Develop soft skills in communication, collaboration, and problem-solving
- Explore career paths within supply chain management
Program Timeline
Weeks 1–2: Orientation & Training
- Introduction to company mission and purchasing/logistics processes
- Training on SAP ByDesign, ERP systems, safety protocols, and company policies
Weeks 3–10: Real-World Projects
- Analyze ordering processes and propose optimization strategies
- Improve procurement efficiency and streamline vendor communication
- Work on data-driven projects that inform department decisions
Ongoing: Professional Growth
- Participate in career discussions and shadowing experiences
- Receive continuous feedback and performance evaluations
Final Week: Presentation & Wrap-Up
- Present a key project or findings to department leadership
- Exit interview and recommendation letter upon successful completion
Ideal Candidate
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SAP or ERP systems a plus
- Effective communicator and eager to learn
- Interested in a career in logistics, procurement, or operations
