Part time RN, 32 hours per week, to split hours between Surgery and the Specialty Clinic. Position is Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 3:30pm. No weekends, holidays, or on-call. Full benefits, including health insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-op and Post-op patients in the same day surgery unit.
- Gives medications, IVs, treatments, and dressing applications as ordered by the physician.
- Recognize changes in patient condition, communicate with surgeons, family and other surgical staff.
- Cooperates with members of operating staff in observing aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures in preparing for and assisting with surgery.
- Calls patients before procedures to update medications, allergies, and medical histories.
- Completes an accurate operative record for each surgical patient to include all necessary surgical procedures and findings.
- Completes call-backs to all post-op patients.
- Assesses wounds, surgical sites, remove sutures/staples
- Pull patient data to prep for various provider clinics
- Receive and execute both verbal and written orders from providers, ensuring that required prior authorizations and appropriate diagnoses are obtained and documented before scheduling appointments or procedures with other departments.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as an RN in the State of Iowa. BLS and ACLS certifications required. PALS certification preferred.
Experience: Operating Room experience preferred. Clinic experience preferred.
