Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, creativity in menu planning, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, ensuring high quality and presentation standards.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop innovative sushi menu items that align with seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
- Manage inventory of sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and proper storage techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent knife skills for precise cutting of fish and vegetables.
- Assist in catering events as needed, providing exceptional service and presentation of sushi platters.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
- Engage with customers to provide recommendations and ensure satisfaction with their dining experience.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry is essential.
- Fine dining experience is highly desirable, showcasing an understanding of high-quality food preparation standards.
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus.
- Strong culinary skills with knowledge of food handling and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with menu planning and meal preparation techniques is beneficial.
