Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep understanding of sushi techniques and presentation. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation, while ensuring food safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
- Utilize various knife techniques to ensure the proper cutting of fish and vegetables.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service during busy periods.
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal specialties.
- Keep the sushi station clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary ingredients.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation within the food industry, preferably in a restaurant setting.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of various sushi-making techniques.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in meal preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in fine dining or high-volume restaurants is a plus.
- A passion for Japanese cuisine and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
