XL Towing is a trusted, fast-paced towing and roadside assistance company and private property tower dedicated to providing exceptional service. We’re looking for a motivated individual who can do it all: Dispatcher, tow truck driver, and overall generalist willing to assist in various aspects of the business.
Pay: $1000-$1500 + benefits
Location: Chicago
PERIODIC DISPATCHING:
- Part of your position as a "Generalist" while not in a truck towing, you will: Answer incoming calls and coordinate towing and roadside assistance requests efficiently, dispatch drivers to customer locations, ensuring timely and accurate service. Communicate with customers, drivers and law enforcement. Calculate towing and storage charges and prepare work orders. Maintain professionalism and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the towing process.
BACK UP DRIVER:
- Operate tow trucks safely to transport vehicles, including light-duty and medium duty towing - to include flatbeds and wheel lifts as backup is needed. Provide roadside assistance services (e.g., tire changes, jump-starts, lockouts) and private property impound services. Ensure vehicles are securely loaded and transported in compliance with safety regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to provide timely service. Maintain accurate records of services performed and complete necessary paperwork. Perform basic maintenance checks on tow trucks and equipment.
GENERALIST:
- Versatile individual who can assist in all facets of the business. Have reliable transportation. Run errands as needed, install towing signs on private property, light mechanical repairs, release impounded vehicles and be an overall team player in doing what is needed for the benefit of the company. Cover where needed to ensure smooth operations of a fast-paced towing company.
Requirements:
- Must be a night owl.
- Proven experience as a dispatcher and driver
- Strong communication and multitasking skills. Knowledge of local geography and towing processes is a plus. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Proficiency with computers. Clean background check, drug screening and ability to acquire a license through the ICC is required. Willingness to assist in all facets of the industry.
