JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Eberly Family Special Collections Library is seeking applicants to fill an open Part-Time University Archives Assistant position. Working under the direction of the University Archivist, the Part -Time University Archives Assistant will assist Special Collections team members with efforts to support access to University history through research and outreach initiatives.
Job Duties:
Conduct research on the history of Penn State student activism using library catalog, archival finding aids, Aeon system, and other internal databases .
Review, update and/or create resources about University history topics, including research guides, web pages, and/or digital /physical exhibit s .
Support an active oral history program by reviewing and quality-controlling transcriptions of interviews.
Provide onsite public services support in Special Collections reading room.
Requirements and qualifications:
Organizational ability with attention to detail
Teamwork and collaboration
Flexibility
Clear communication skills with both written and verbal formats
Strong computer skills including k nowledge of Microsoft Office software suite
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
Preferred:
Experience working in a library or other similar setting
Familiarity with using special collections material (archives, manuscripts, rare books)
Skill and proficiency in an online research environment
Experience with web editing tools ( e.g. Wordpress )
Experience with scanning software
