Overview
For a skilled, motivated and hard working individual, couple or family we have an adventurous opportunity. Adventurous because we operate at 6000 ft elevation in the mountains of Wyoming and we push to grow a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and cut flowers. Creating and maintaining soil fertility, controlling weeds, irrigating, and maintaining tools and equipment, will be some of your prime objectives. Must have previous experience and be ready to capitalize on a great opportunity. Must be a people person with computer and marketing skills. Housing is provided.We have long winters so you must like the snow and cold to be able to enjoy this location.
Must be organized, neat and clean and respectful of others property. Drinking and smoking is not allowed on the farm. Must have the discipline to work to complete a job and not be concerned about the number of hours involved. Must be self motivated and able to work unsupervised. Must have passion for healthy food and a desire to produce it for others. Must share our vision of land stewardship. Must be a lifelong learner. Must be looking for long term position.
Responsibilities
- Help with delivery routes to Jackson.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment and power tools for various farming tasks.
- Assist in the irrigation of crops, ensuring proper water supply for optimal growth.
- Work in greenhouses to cultivate plants, monitor growth conditions, and manage pest control.
- Utilize hand tools effectively for planting, weeding, and harvesting crops.
- Perform routine maintenance on farm machinery and equipment to ensure safe operation.
- Participate in growing cycles from planting through harvest, adhering to best agricultural practices.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals while maintaining high standards of quality.
Our ideal candidate:
- Has 2 or more years experience working on an organic vegetable farm
- Shares our commitment to organic farming and responsible land stewardship
- Has specific experience in organic vegetable production, greenhouse seedling production, harvest and post-harvest handling, on-farm retail.
- Has experience in a leadership or management role
- Is seriously pursuing a career in agriculture
- Has experience operating and maintaining farm equipment
- Loves working outdoors and embraces the challenges of a physically demanding job
- Has a positive attitude and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Has a strong worth ethic and excellent communication skills
- Must be comfortable driving on winter roads and have good driving record.
