Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care for animals while assisting veterinarians in various medical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care, veterinary terminology, and laboratory techniques, ensuring the well-being of our patients and supporting our mission to deliver exceptional veterinary services.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, providing necessary care and support.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatments administered.
- Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring proper aseptic technique is followed.
- Educate pet owners on animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including sterilization of instruments.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a veterinary setting or completion of a Veterinary Technician program.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and dental terminology.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent animal handling skills with experience in dog handling preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members effectively.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their welfare.
