Job Summary
We are a local, privately owned, employee focused veterinary hospital seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of veterinary practices and procedures, with a passion for animal care. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. Your expertise in animal handling and veterinary techniques will be essential in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals we serve.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Conduct dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures using proper dental terminology.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including monitoring anesthesia and recovery.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Provide education to pet owners on animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment during procedures.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately, ensuring their comfort throughout their visit.
- Assist with X-ray imaging as needed and ensure proper safety protocols are followed.
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience or training in veterinary technology. Skills in laboratory procedures, animal handling, dental terminology, X-ray techniques, and aseptic technique are required functions of this role. A genuine love for animals and a commitment to providing exceptional care are essential qualities for this position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
