Visiting Assistant Professor Mathematics

The Mercyhurst University Department of Mathematics invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 2020.

Mercyhurst University is a fully accredited, four-year, Catholic, liberal arts institution founded in 1926 by the Sisters of Mercy, who worked hard to make the college and the Erie community a better place. The university is home to more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students immersed in more than 50 undergraduate majors with 67 concentrations, as well as unique adult programs and nine graduate degrees. The Department offers courses that serve science, business, and education majors.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach 24 credits over the fall and spring semesters. Courses will be primarily at or below the calculus level. Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching, with a passion for working with students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities. Additional duties may include advising students, participation in University recruitment events, curriculum development, and other departmental duties. A master’s degree in mathematics or a related field is required; a PhD is strongly preferred. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

Additional evidence of high standards of teaching, including syllabi and course evaluation data, is optional but highly encouraged.
