This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Utilities department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION:

- Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $35.86. Any changes to the starting salary would be dependent on education, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Saturday-Tuesday 6:00am-3:30pm. May be required to work various shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call outs.
- Environment – The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. The worker frequently is in close quarters, narrow aisles, passageways, and crawl spaces, shafts, manholes, small enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.
THE ROLE
WRF Operator III performs a variety of skilled work in Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations. Performance pertaining but not limited to operating and inspecting of a variety of primary, secondary and tertiary plant equipment, plant sampling and any other duties related to the continuous operation of wastewater treatment. Individuals in this class may be appointed acting supervisor.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this position will have their Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade III Certificate and will have recent experience working in a Wastewater Treatment Facility. They will have an advanced knowledge of the maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment facilities, an ability to operate computers, software (preferably SCADA), and mechanical equipment.

- Graduation from high school or equivalent AND three (3) years of full-time professional experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility. Equivalent combinations of experience, training, and/or education which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the major functions of the position may be considered.
- All positions must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame and must possess and maintain an appropriate fork lift certificate within 6 months of the date of appointment.
- Must possess a valid State of Nevada Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade III Certificate at time of appointment. Reciprocity for equivalent certifications from other states may be considered.
