Position Summary:
The Yacht Broker is responsible for generating and managing new and used boat sales. This includes prospecting, client relationship management, listing and showing vessels, negotiating contracts, and overseeing transactions through to delivery. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, knowledgeable about the boating industry, and driven by results.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Brokerage
o Represent and sell new and pre-owned yachts to prospective buyers.
o Secure and manage exclusive listing agreements with sellers.
o Prepare and present vessels for sale through showings, sea trials, and boat shows.
Client Relationship Management
o Build and maintain long-term relationships with buyers, sellers, and industry partners.
o Act as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the buying/selling process.
o Maintain regular contact with prospects and leads using CRM tools.
Transaction Management
o Draft and negotiate purchase and listing agreements.
o Coordinate surveys, haul-outs, financing, documentation, and closing.
o Ensure regulatory and company compliance with all transactions.
Marketing & Lead Generation
o Collaborate with the marketing team to promote listings via online platforms, social media, MLS services, and events.
o Develop and pursue self-generated leads and referrals.
o Assist with the setup and staffing of boat shows and dealership events.
Industry Knowledge
o Stay current on market trends, vessel types, and pricing benchmarks.
o Maintain product knowledge of inventory and competitive brands.
o Participate in training sessions and manufacturer programs as needed.
Qualifications:
o Proven experience in yacht sales, brokerage, or related marine industry.
o Strong negotiation and communication skills.
o Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
o Knowledge of marine financing, insurance, documentation, and logistics preferred.
o Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet sales goals.
o Must have or be able to obtain a Yacht Broker License (if required by state law).
o Valid driver's license; boating license and experience operating vessels a plus.
Compensation:
o Commission-based with potential for draws or performance incentives.
o Access to office resources, lead support, and marketing assistance.
o Potential for additional bonuses on new dealer sales or high-margin listings.
