JOB DESCRIPTION: For General Manager/Steward
We are looking for someone to manage the daily operations of the club. This includes our staff, the flow of members and overall service of the entire establishment and our marina which includes our boat owning members along with transient boaters from other yacht clubs. This position is multifaceted which requires excellent service, cleanliness and optimal team performance which is paramount.
You must be able to lead by example. Build a strong, cohesive and reliable team. Train, retrain, and inspire. Drive performance through accountability, coaching, and recognition.
You must be able to drive sales while maintaining cost control, and guest service across the board. Be Hands-On: This is not a seasonal job, however, it is required that you are present and ready to work during peak volume days through the summer months, especially Friday and Saturday Evenings and during special events. You must be a consistently personable and dynamic professional with a natural ability to engage, connect, and create a welcoming environment for members and guests.
You must be a professional who possesses excellent communication skills, who knows how manage people by speaking with someone, and not speak at them. Also, you must be able to recognize and deescalate a situation before an issue arises.
You must be someone who is skilled at coordinating multiple tasks across the club, restaurant, bar and marina. This includes scheduling wait staff, bartenders and marina staff, keeping an accurate inventory and ordering supplies and alcohol to keep the club running smoothly.
You must be someone who has experience elevating service standards and turning around underperformers by offering constructive suggestions and encouraging self-evaluation amongst team members.
You must be a professional who is operationally savvy and business-minded—ready to partner closely with the board of directors our chef and kitchen personnel.
You must be a person who takes initiative and is physically capable of lifting heavy boxes and moving tables and chairs when needed.
You must be someone who takes direction well and adheres to all club policies, health regulations and safety standards.

The Mount Sinai Yacht Club is a private membership club with more than sixty years of tradition and hospitality. We are located on the beautiful Mount Sinai Harbor, just east of Port Jefferson. The club is a combination of family and individual memberships, boaters and non- boaters. Members and their guests are welcome to enjoy the wide range of year-round activities offered by our club.
COMPENSATION: commensurate with experience
*Food Handlers License will be required within 30 days of employment
