Senior Executive/Executive - Procurement & Import/Export Operations

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement and import/export operations for the Food & Chemical business.
  • Raise and manage Purchase Orders in SAP.
  • Obtain quotations and negotiate with international suppliers and freight forwarders.
  • Prepare import costing and landed-cost calculations.
  • Coordinate supplier orders, production readiness and shipment schedules.
  • Follow up on ETD, ETA, vessel bookings, shipments and deliveries.
  • Ensure timely receipt and accuracy of all shipping and import documentation.
  • Coordinate Customs clearance and regulatory approvals.
  • Liaise with Sri Lanka Customs, Plant Quarantine, DAPH, Import & Export Control, SLSI, Food Control and other relevant authorities, as applicable.
  • Coordinate export documentation and export shipments.
  • Track supplier invoices, vendor payments and payment-related shipment requirements.
  • Monitor import costs, freight, clearance charges, demurrage and detention.
  • Maintain accurate SAP, procurement and shipment records.
  • Ensure timely delivery, regulatory compliance and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree / Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, International Trade, Food Science, Chemistry or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in a Food & Chemical-related business environment, preferably in import procurement or international trade.
  • Strong hands-on experience in importing food products, food ingredients, chemicals, chemical raw materials or related products.
  • Practical knowledge of Sri Lankan Customs and import procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in SAP Purchase Order processing and import costing.
  • Experience of dealing with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders and Customs House Agents.
  • Good knowledge of import/export documentation, HS Codes and Incoterms.
  • Experience dealing with Plant Quarantine, DAPH, Import & Export Control, SLSI and Food Control will be an advantage.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, communication and follow-up skills.
