IRE Aifm - Experienced Portfolio Manager
Job description
Portfolio management, close to the decisions
We are an independent AIFM boutique, founded by a seasoned real estate asset manager and now scaling up as a third-party specialised AIFM. Our team is small, our funds are complex, and there is no layer between you and the people making the calls.
If you want to build genuine investment judgement rather than process a queue, this is the seat.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Conducting Officer in charge of portfolio management, you will support the oversight of complex Private Equity, Real Estate, Private Debt and Fund of Funds portfolios, as well as the monitoring of delegated portfolio management arrangements.
This is not a purely Business As Usual role: we are looking for someone who can run the day-to-day function while continuously challenging how portfolio management is done, streamlining manual workflows, and helping us transform the function through practical technology, automation, and AI.
Oversight & Challenge
• Assess investment opportunities initiated by the AIFs, their GPs, advisors and delegated portfolio managers.
• Understand, assess and challenge complex financial models and investment theses.
• Support investment and divestment decisions, documenting the rationale and escalating where needed.
Monitoring & Risk
• Run and maintain a robust monitoring process across Real Estate, Private Equity, Private Debt and Fund of Funds.
• Maintain a detailed working knowledge of portfolio exposures: asset allocation, concentration, leverage, liquidity profile, hedging.
• Oversee the delegation framework when portfolio management is delegated: due diligence, ongoing monitoring, periodic reviews, KPIs and Board reporting.
Governance & Onboarding
• Contribute to investment committees, AIF governance bodies and Board reporting.
• Ensure that the marketing of AIFs is made in accordance with the regulations.
• Contribute to the onboarding of new funds and mandates: investment strategy, risk/return profile, operational feasibility and fit with the AIFM framework.
• Review offering documents and fund documentation (prospectus/PPM, LPA, investment guidelines, side letters) and ensure ongoing compliance with policies, regulation and investment restrictions.
• Stay apprised of the macroeconomic environment, capital markets, private markets valuation trends and Luxembourg fund regulation.
Who you are
• You have more than 5 years’ experience in Portfolio Management within the alternative investment industry in an AIFM environment (ideally in Real Estate, Private Equity or Fixed Income).
• You are familiar with Luxembourg alternative fund structures (RAIF, SIF, SCSp) and private investment structuring.
• You are aware of the Luxembourg AIFM regulatory environment and CSSF expectations.
• You bring solid technical knowledge allowing you to review, assess and challenge investment proposals, financial models and structuring.
• You read complex fund documentation (LPAs, PPMs, investment management agreements) and complex models with confidence.
• You communicate excellently in writing and out loud, and can produce board-ready documentation.
• You communicate clearly, lead client-facing discussions with confidence, and collaborate effectively with the Valuation and Risk Management teams.
• You take ownership, work independently, manage priorities and finish what you start.
• You have high integrity, a pragmatic mindset, and you challenge constructively.
• You are fluent in English.
Nice to have
• Professional certification (CFA, CAIA).
• French..
What we offer
• An evolving role with direct impact and visibility inside the AIFM.
• 360° exposure to the alternative fund industry, with a broad scope of responsibility and strategic involvement.
• Continuous professional development: industry training, regulatory updates and relevant events.
• A dynamic team working with international, entrepreneurial clients and counterparties.
• A competitive package aligned with seniority and responsibilities (fixed + variable based on achievements).
