Job Summary
The Process Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role focused on learning and applying engineering fundamentals within a manufacturing environment. This position supports continuous improvement efforts, assists with process optimization and troubleshooting, and works under the guidance of senior engineers and/or plant leadership on department- or value stream-level projects. The role emphasizes execution and implementation while building technical, manufacturing, and Lean process knowledge.
Essential Job Functions
- Learn and apply engineering fundamentals to support manufacturing process improvements related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and waste reduction.
- Support work order improvement activities and Engineering Master updates.
- Collect, organize, and analyze production data under guidance to identify trends, support problem solving, and recommend improvement opportunities.
- Support Kaizen events, Lean improvement projects, and root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Why and A3 planning template.
- Provide hands-on execution and implementation support for equipment, materials, process changes, and manufacturing troubleshooting activities.
- Assigned tasks are to be completed accurately, documented appropriately, and aligned with project objectives.
- Create and update work instructions, process documentation, visual standards, engineering records, and operator training materials to support process sustainment.
- Support adherence to safety, environmental, and health regulations, including participation in safety initiatives, corrective action activities, and risk assessments.
- Implement strategic continuous improvement projects with significant savings for the facility
- Develop capital charter proposals and manage the implementation of capital projects
- Create CAD drawings for new equipment/tooling
- Lead A3 Projects with project plan
- Develop test / trial plans for evaluating material and parts
- Other duties may be assigned.
