Job description

Medical Receptionist | Local Doctors Glen Innes, East Auckland

Part-Time | 32 Hours per Week

Be the welcoming face of healthcare in your community.

Are you a friendly, organised and people-focused professional who enjoys helping others? Local Doctors Glen Innes is looking for a proactive Medical Receptionist to join our team.

As one of the first points of contact for patients, you'll play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience. Working in a busy GP and Urgent Care environment, you'll interact with patients attending for everything from routine healthcare appointments to unexpected illnesses and injuries.

Whether you're welcoming patients, coordinating appointments or supporting our clinical team, your contribution will help ensure patients feel informed, supported and well cared for.

About the Role

This is a varied, people-focused position where no two days are quite the same. Working alongside our doctors, nurses and wider administration team, you'll help keep the clinic running smoothly while supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey.

Local Doctors Glen Innes provides both general practice and urgent care services, including walk-in consultations. You'll be part of an environment where teamwork, adaptability and a positive patient experience are essential.

The position offers 32 hours per week across four days:

  • Monday: 11:30am–8:00pm
  • Wednesday: 11:30am–8:00pm
  • Thursday: 11:30am–8:00pm
  • Friday: 11:30am–8:00pm

What You'll Be Doing

  • Welcoming patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism
  • Managing appointments, bookings, cancellations and patient enquiries
  • Registering patients and maintaining accurate patient records
  • Answering phone calls and coordinating appointments
  • Supporting the flow of patients attending both booked appointments and walk-in urgent care
  • Processing payments and supporting front desk operations
  • Providing administrative support to doctors, nurses and the wider clinical team
  • Helping maintain an organised, efficient and patient-focused reception environment

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, adapts well to changing priorities and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

You'll bring:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • A warm, approachable and professional manner
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using computer systems and learning new technologies
  • The ability to multitask, prioritise and remain calm in a busy environment
  • A reliable and team-focused approach
  • Flexibility and confidence working in a varied healthcare environment
  • A genuine commitment to helping others and delivering positive patient experiences

Previous experience in reception, administration or customer service is preferred. Experience in a medical practice, urgent care or healthcare environment is an advantage, but not essential.

We're looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and the confidence to thrive in a busy, patient-focused setting.
